TRUSTEE ELECTION OPEN FORUMS
 
The open forums have been set.  There will be two open forms so the membership can get to know the trustee candidates.  The first forum will be on May 1st at 6:00p.m. in the MCES cafeteria.  The second forum will be on May 3rd at 6:00p.m. in the SCS cafeteria. 
 
During the open forums each of the 4 candidates will have an opportunity to speak.  After all 4 candidates have spoken the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions of them.   The forums will also be recorded and posted to the website for those members who might not be able to attend.
 
You may choose to attend one or both of these forums.    

ConstructionConstruction begins Tuesday, April 24 on the new soccer field.  Due to this, the gate that leads to the tunnel under Edgewood will be closed.  Please keep this in mind when dropping your students off.

Dear Parents, Students, Faculty and Staff,

The state has developed a system to give an A-F grade to all public schools in Arkansas. Academics Plus
Charter Schools performed well in the new state A-F rating system. The new rating system is based on
indicators/data taken during the 2016-2017 school year.


Maumelle Charter High School (MCHS) and Maumelle Charter Elementary School (MCES) both earned an
“A” from the state’s rating system. Only 11% of the state’s high schools and 15% of the elementary
schools earned an “A” rating. In addition to the “A” rating MCES earned $27,004.32 of reward money
for being in the top 10% of all schools for student performance. This is a proud day for both MCES and
MCHS. The next step for both schools will be to continue to improve the programs to make sure all
students learn to their full potential.

Thursday, May 3, at 10 am in the MCHS Gymnasium

Please join us in celebrating and recognizing our seniors for their college decisions and scholarships.

Several in-state colleges and military representatives will be in attendance after the ceremony, to speak with 9th-12th grade students about their college/career plans.

This event is hosted by MCHS and the Maumelle Chamber of Commerce

Come enjoy coffee and conversation with Mrs. Tucker (middle school counselor) and Mrs. Redic (HS counselor), where we will be discussing the book “There is Life after College”.  As a college prep school, we are committed to the journey of preparing each child at an early age for their future.  Come learn how the counseling department is working with kids thru middle and high school to best reach their goals and how you can be a part of the process.


APAttention Parents of current AP students:

AP testing begins Monday May 7th & will conclude on Friday, May 18th.  Please click here to see the AP testing schedule attached. The schedule lists the report time & room for all test.

It is very important that students get a good night’s rest & eat a healthy breakfast before reporting for the exams. For 8 am exams, students must report to their testing room at 7:30 am. For 12 pm exams, students must report to their testing room at 11:30.

PlayWe have some very exciting news...the new Drama Program is up and running!  The Falcon Players are proud to announce our first production 12 Angry Jurors, the passionate story of one man’s fight for a young man’s justice.

The play's opening night is May 4, with and additional a performance on May 5. Tickets are available, with reserved seating, so get yours right away to get the best seats possible. (There will be a limited number of seats per night.)

Tickets are $5 and may be purchased in the MCHS office M-Th BEFORE 9:30am.

 

In the process of putting this production together, we are also building a drama program, and we could use some help. We are in need of teenage and adult clothing/costumes that you are ready to part with permanently: dresses, coats, suits, jackets, sweaters, robes, shoes, tights, leggings, skirts, blouses, shirts, etc.  Also, any costume or period jewelry, hats, gloves, hoop skirts, petticoats, bow ties or regular ties. We are also looking for furniture: large mirrors, pictures, and furniture (small couches/loveseats, lounge chairs, dining chairs, office chairs, tables, cabinets, cupboards, shelves).

Your donations can be brought to the high school (office foyer) or to Mrs. Bittancourt's room (1132). Thank you so much for your help and support.

promMCHS Jr/Sr prom will be Saturday, April 28th at 7:30pm at the Lafayette Building in Little Rock.  Tickets are $25/per person or $45/per couple.  Tickets may be purchased in the MCHS office M-Th BEFORE 9:30am.  The last day to purchase tickets will be 4/26.

Congratulations to our Elementary Art Enrichment Students that participated in Curbside Couture on Sunday, April 8

Sequoia Dodson, 5th grade was selected to be in a documentary about the event at the Clinton Center. So when I get that I will show everyone. She also was selected as 3rd place winner in the elementary division.
 
Dain Poff, 3rd grade, and Dalilah Poff, 1st grade, received an award for Best Use of Recycled Material. This was out of everyone in the whole show not just elementary.
 
Alyssa Conklin, 6th grade, won 2nd place in the middle division.

 

 

 

 


GraduationMaumelle Charter High School will be graduating our 2018 Seniors on Friday, May 18th at 6:30pm, in the MCHS Gymnasium.

 

 


PTO

PTO Board/ General Meeting will be May 16th.  The Board Meeting begins at 5:30 in the elementary book room 116, and the General Meeting at starts at 6:00 in the elementary cafeteria.  Voting will take place for PTO President and Treasurer for 2018-19/2019-20 school years.

physicalsFree Sport Physicals for the 2018-2019 school year will be held on May 4, from 4:00-6:00pm in the MCHS Gym. Any student that is playing or planning on playing a sport during he 18-19 school year must have a physical on file. For required paperwork please see Coach Owen in the MCHS gym.



awardsThe 2018 MCHS All Sports Banquet will be held on May 10, starting at 6pm in the MCHS gym. Banquet is semi formal, hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be provided. MCHS athletes get in free, tickets for family and relatives will be on sale starting April 30, for $3.00. Tickets can be purchased during homeroom or after school in the gym from MCHS Booster Club.

Please go to front office to receive a visitor badge.  You will need to hand deliver the lunch to your student in the cafeteria right before your child’s lunch starts.

*Food/Drinks cannot be left unsupervised for the safety of our students.

1st Lunch: 11:29am - 11:59am          2nd Lunch: 12:18pm - 12:48pm          3rd Lunch: 1:07pm - 1:37pm

If you are unable to do this, please put money into your child’s account to purchase a lunch from the cafeteria.
