For the graduating class of 2008, a minimum of 24 units must be earned in order for the student to be entitled to graduate. Only one of the units can be a physical education course. The units are as follows:
For purposes of designation of student honors (valedictorian, etc.) and for college admission information, students will be officially ranked at the end of the first semester of the graduating year.
Class rank is to be determined by assigning the student with the highest grade point average a rank of number one (1); the second highest, the rank of number two (2), etc. In cases where more than one student has the same numerical average, all students with that average will be given the same rank. The next highest average will assume the next rank position which will indicate the number of students having a higher rank.
A student must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4 point scale and have taken and/or be enrolled in the minimum core of high school courses to be considered for recognition as honor graduates. (Act 977, 1997)
Any student who does not have enough credits to graduate during the normal length of time (end of the 12th grade year and 8th semester) must earn the remaining credits by the end of the next fall semester. Any person receiving a diploma beyond this time must meet the graduation requirements that are in effect at the time they receive their diploma.
Any student, who earns a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 and successfully completes at least twenty-four (24) concurrent credit hours, may apply in May to have the Honors Seal placed on his/her diploma.
