Admission Procedures

I. School Registration:

April 1st is the last day for accepting registration of students for 2008-2009. Students applying after the 1st will be put on a waiting list. Returning students will automatically be registered if we have been notified by the parent; or, if they have sent back in the polling letter mailed out earlier in the year.

II. Student Lottery:

Families considering Academics Plus Charter School for the 2009-2010 school year who do not already have a student at the school, and who do not complete new student registrations prior to April 15th, will need to participate in a lottery.

Academics Plus Charter School has a current enrollment of approximately 550 students.

III. Admissions Procedures:

We understand that making the selection of where someone will attend school is one of the most important, and difficult, choices any parent or student makes in their educational career. Therefore the admissions process at Academics Plus Charter School (APCS) is very simple and straight forward. Application and entry into APCS is not materially different from the admissions processes experienced in any other public education system.

The following general guidelines are established and presented below to aid prospective and returning students to understand the admissions process. • Download or request an applications package from the school website or school Registrar's office.
• Complete the application package and return it via fax, mail or email to the school Registrar's office. (See below for contact information)
• Upon receipt and review of the prospective student's application package, the parent or guardian will be contacted to schedule an interview with both the student and their responsible adult. During the interview process the expectations of both the student and their family and the school will be communicated, including:
  • Mission & Vision
  • Curriculum & Academic Performance
  • Past Performance Evaluation
  • Discipline Policy & Expectation
  • Dress Code
  • Attendance & Participation Policy
  • Electronic Media & Communications Policy
  • Academic Integrity

  The interview is also an appropriate time to address any other significant or hidden factors that may affect the student's success at APCS.

• Upon the successful completion of the entrance interview, some students may be asked to participate in core curriculum testing to establish academic placement and set appropriately challenging educational goals.
