Maumelle Charter High School Principal Willis first joined Academics Plus Charter School as the High School Counselor in June 2012.  During the 2012/2013 school year she was asked to assume the role of interim and ultimately accepted the position of High School Principal.  Under her direction, she and her staff strive to maintain a productive climate that confidently motivates, mobilizes, and coaches students to meet high performance standards.

Mrs. Willis’ education philosophy is to effectively impact education through multifaceted strategies that encourages student autonomy and accelerates teacher accountability.  Mrs. Willis has been involved with student enrichment and education for 8 years prior to her career at Academics Plus Charter School.  Mrs. Willis plans to utilize her prior experience in both the public and private sector to continue an exceptional academic program.  Her prior public sector experience includes serving as a Human Service Advocate for 5 years in three high schools and one middle school simultaneously. Mrs. Willis also supports volunteerism by serving in community-based enrichment programs for at-risk youth. Her diverse experience also includes mission work in Haiti and serving in the Sign Language Ministry at her church.  Mrs. Willis continues to use multi data sources to drive the instruction to promote better student outcomes. Mrs. Willis is dedicated to a movement that promotes the culture of achievement, teacher appreciation and support, student, parent, and community engagement. She prioritizes preparing students holistically, to enter this highly competitive job market and ever evolving world.  As a new administrator, Mrs. Willis seeks out opportunities to accelerate her own professional learning that in turn will accelerate the schools growth.

Mrs. Willis holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Webster University George Herbert Walker School of Business and Technology and is pursuing a second Master’s degree in Secondary Education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.  She enjoys working in ministry through her church and spending time with her wonderful family.  She and her husband, Marquis reside in West Little Rock with their two daughters Serene and Brooke.
