MISSION STATEMENT

The Maumelle Charter Elementary Counseling Department is staffed by two counselors who advocate, collaborate, and facilitate individual and system change to ensure every student has the knowledge and skill necessary for academic success and personal growth. School counselors strive to empower students to embrace their full potential and to achieve their personal and academic aspirations.

What is the Role of the Counselor?

School Counselors support the developmental and academic needs of students. Counselors collaborate with school staff, administration, and the parent community to ensure the integration and alignment of the school counseling program and the mission of the school. School counselors deliver prevention and intervention services that support the academic, career, personal, interpersonal, and healthy development of all students. Prevention and intervention services include academic advocacy, group lessons, individual student services, staff and parent consultation, school program support and crisis response. As counselors, we make referrals, provide consultation to school staff, provide advocacy for students, provide consultation and communication with parents/guardians to support students' academic and social success, education in understanding self and others, coping strategies, peer relationships and effective social skills communication, problem solving, decision making, and conflict resolution, crisis intervention and homeless assistance.

How do students make an appointment to see their counselor?

Students can make an appointment with our counselors at any time. Students can request their teacher contact one the counselors to set a time to meet or students may also stop by the counselors' office to request an urgent appointment.
