Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope this message finds you well and that your family is gearing up for a safe and successful start to the school year.

The City of Maumelle wants to provide clarification and raise awareness regarding the public park and lake that is near several local schools. While we recognize that this shared space is frequently visited by students after school hours, it is important to note that this area is not supervised or monitored by school staff or city personnel during those times. If your student is planning to visit this park after school, please visit the park and review the rules with your student.

To promote safety and responsible use of all public spaces, the City of Maumelle has launched a "Safe Parks" campaign, focused on:

  • Encouraging positive behaviors and community respect in shared spaces
  • Educating families and youth on safety practices when visiting parks
  • Promoting community pride and proactive use of public resources

We are committed to fostering a safe and welcoming environment in all city parks and facilities, and we ask that families work with us by having open conversations with their children about expectations when using these public areas. #PlayItForward #PlayItSafe

Additionally, we are partnering with local schools and community organizations to share messaging around safe, respectful park use through social media, signage, and outreach.

Your support in this effort is greatly appreciated. If you have any concerns or observe anything unsafe, please contact the appropriate authorities, such as the Maumelle Police Department's non-emergency number at (501) 851-1337 & select option 2.

Together, we can ensure that our public spaces remain safe and enjoyable for all.
