Dear SCS Families,
Please find the attached letter outlining the recent third-grade promotion law, which requires that students meet specific academic criteria in reading and literacy to be promoted to the fourth grade.
It is important to know that preparing for this requirement begins well before third grade. From kindergarten onward, our teachers intentionally build foundational literacy skills that support long-term reading success. The work we do together, starting in the earliest grades, makes a difference in ensuring students are on track by the end of third grade.
We recognize that this law affects both students and their families, and we want to ensure that everyone is fully informed. Our school and parents must work together to support our students in meeting these expectations. We encourage open communication and collaboration; if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Parent meetings for K-3rd grade families will be held on October 1st (K-1st grade) and October 2nd (2nd-3rd grade) at 5:30 to provide more information about reading success for students. We value your partnership and look forward to working together to help your child succeed.
Thank you,
SCS Administration

We wrapped up the 2024 Maumelle Holiday parade winning the Mayor's Choice award! It was fun to see so many familiar faces along the parade route. Thank you families that supported our float decorations and cheered for us on Saturday night! 🎄

The Arkansas State Capitol hosted a special ceremony this past weekend to honor student finalists from the Arkansas Peace Week Contest held in September. Student artwork was prominently displayed throughout the Capitol building during the week leading up to the ceremony.
Among over 1,000 contest entries statewide, three of our students earned recognition as finalists: third-graders Maya Patel and Scarlett Blake, along with first-grader Norah Blake. At the awards ceremony, Norah Blake was awarded first place in the first-grade division, while Maya Patel secured second place in the third-grade division. Scarlett Blake was honored with a finalist certificate for her outstanding contribution. Congratulations!
